On Saturday 3rd of November our Parish held its annual Bazaar at the Wesley Memorial Hall. As always, the work started months earlier when people committed to run particular stalls and then gathered a team around them to begin planning.
As in every year, we looked out of the window to see what kind of weather we had been blessed with. This can never be planned and we hope and pray it will be fine so that people are in town that day and can be attracted to the Bazaar. We were very lucky again this year because it was dry and the sun shone.
Despite this, the Bazaar got off to a slow start. Maybe that always happens and I just don't remember. When people did begin to show up they fell on the food with great relish. At the end of the day the café had made £800. Eka and Jolanta had been up all night cooking and baking for their stalls. They did a fantastic job and the food was truly delicious.
As usual, we had gifts, books and icons. One idea which was new this year was Christmas cards made by children of the Parish. They were absolutely delightful and they must have made everyone who saw them smile. They had bright colours and happy themes.
We also had a gingerbread house, which we raffled. This was a new departure because we thought it was not possible to hold a raffle in the hall. Everyone was very delighted when Eka won it because she had worked so hard. It was not fixed!!
All in all we had a very happy day and we made the fantastic sum of £2,900 for our Parish funds
